Boycott 2010 Oscar Telecast
To/Against/For: against the Oscars Expansion of the Best Pictures.The fun with the Academy Awards have always been in who gets nominated. Even if you don't agree with the choices the picks were still an exclusive group. Now with the big studios pressure on the Academy President to add more so some of their more undeserving films will get nominations, the Academy caved in and expanded the exclusive list from 5 nominees to 10.
It is no longer an exclusive list and some undeserving titles will sneak in. In doing so they have made the awards less important and less fun. The quality of the films won't matter as much as the size of the film. If the big studios made better movie they might not have to stoop to this level.
Any true fan of the Oscars will want to sign the petition to show their support for the Academy to reverse their mistake and again offer the 5 nominees. If they don't, I am prepared to not watch the Oscars for the first time in over 2 decades. I hope others will sign this petition and pledge to boycott the 2010 Oscar telecast until they again make the list 5.
