PETITION TO Gov. Kaine—CREATE A STATE PARK IN LOUDOUN CO.
TO: Governor Kaine
We, the undersigned residents of Virginia, are petitioning you to secure land in Loudoun County for a State Park. Land is available, following the foreclosure on 4,154 acres of land held by Greenvest. Since there is no State Park in Loudoun County, a State Park at the Greenfields and Lenah properties and/or the Broad Run Village property is ideally suited to meet the needs of Northern Virginia residents. Loudoun County has been one of the fastest growing counties in the nation and is the only county in Northern Virginia without a State Park. By preserving one or more of these available properties, the state will be securing a place for future generations. Before your administration leaves office, please preserve this land and further your goal of placing 400,000 acres under conservation easement in this term (335,000 acres have been preserved so far).
