Justice for Francesco Pio & Nonna Enza

It's the sad story of Francesco Pio Martinisi, a 4-yr-old boy affected by cerebral palsy, and his grandmother, Enza Pesce, who together died due to the fire of the hyperbaric oxygen chamber in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on May 1, 2009.
Francesco Pio had taken a "journey of hope" with his family by flying to America from Italy, to receive a variety of therapies, including hyperbaric oxygen, not available in their country. They had organized a fundraiser in their home town where many, many people from their community and beyond contributed in order to make their journey possible. It was there at Ocean Hyperbaric Neurological Center (Neubauer) in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea that this journey of hope turned into a horrible tragedy: the loss of 2 precious lives.
This medical center, advertised as a clinic of excellence, was equipped with out-dated machinery. More specifically, according to the scientific findings and investigations, the following have been verified:
1. the hyperbaric chamber where this fire occurred dates back to 1967
2. it had not undergone regular maintenance
3. sprinkler system?
4. inadequate security and safety measures
5. the mattress was not fire-resistant
6. the fire surged from an electrical malfunction
Today, over a year now, regardless of the scientific findings, authorities have not yet charged anyone for the double homicide, while the responsible clinic continues to run, without being held liable, promoting itself as a center of excellence, even publishing a photo of Francesco Pio on their website. All this is happening in full view of the Italian Consulate of Miami, while in Italy, the Martinisi family searches to battle this indifference with help from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and seeks to reach to the heart and conscience of higher authorities.
Help in the fight for justice for Francesco Pio and Nonna Enza. Let\'s make sure those responsible for their death can no longer cause harm to the lives of others, potential patients of the Neubauer clinic, including young children, like Francesco Pio.
