RE: Tourist visa discrimination against Persons of Indian Origin (PIO).
Dear Mrs. Chauhan
This petition letter is to draw your attention to the following:
The discriminatory policy being applied towards Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) seeking a tourist visa to India from Canada. A PIO applying for a six-months tourist/visitor visa to India is currently being charged CAN$123.00 plus CAN$21.00 amounting to a whopping CAN$144.00, whereas a non-PIO pays only CAN$62.00 for the same visa. The only difference is a PIO is being issued a 6 months multiple-entry visa without having an option to apply for a 6 months single entry visa. This is not only discriminating but also a financial burden for an individual planning a trip with his/her family to India.
Second, your office is requested to reduce the current visa fee for senior citizens. These individuals have already paid their dues to the society and now live on a limited income.
Third, a request to review the outsourced consular services being provided by VFS Global in Ottawa. Applicants are being expected to pay more for a service, which the Indian High Commission was earlier providing very efficiently.
We, therefore, seek your help, Mrs Chauhan, to address the above-mentioned issues.
