Security - High Handed Part Time negligent Assignment
To/Against/For: All Law Abiding AgneciesWell, I read the article on 26/11 and more importantly the comment of one Muslim [Sounded to be from Pakistan] brother whom I totally agree with. Notwithstanding the fact that all religions live in India with exceptional communal harmony, with exception of a few antisocial elements, notwithstanding the fact that in Pakistan even those Muslims who migrated from Kafir India are segregated as Muhajirs; the said brother author tells us to look at ourselves first which i feel is very right.
We are an elephant as they call our economy. Slow moving, Hippocratic and routine bound society. We forget pains quite fast and return to same old lifestyle not learning the lessons taught by the destiny to us. Not only that some of us are more elephantine and do not respond to the calls of citizens no matter how important they are. So much so that we even dared ignore calls given by the outpost soldiers in Kargil and Arunachal.
Before 26/11 I had been to Mantralaya in Mumbai and could enter on a irrelevant piece of paper. Irrespective of the entry permit for Fl 4 I wandered on all floors and still no one questioned me about it. I was carrying a plastic bag which no one checked at any moment. The x ray machine at the entrance was out of order and no one cared to manually substitute it.
On my return I wrote all this by email to Mr Deshmukh, Mr RR Patil, the then CM & DyCM, as also to DG Police, Police Commissioner of Mumbai. No one cared to act in correction of lapses or even acknowledge the message. When it was known that from Taj one team of terrorists walked to Oberoy via mantralaya, I repeated the letter to Mr. Ashok Chavan and Mr. Bhujbal, the then duo at helm as also the incumbent DGP & CP. But same cool response. Thereafter I wrote to all Print & Visual media, without any acknowledgment. Nonetheless, a few days ago StarNews showed it as their own invention without acknowledging my communique to their office. I did not mind as my intention was not to get the credit or publicity or TRP but to rectify the anomaly.
In spite of this, the things remained where they were. What could have happened if the terrorists would by mistake even had entered the Mantralaya?
After 26/11 we see bunkers laid all over and a gunman with SLR or AK47 standing behind. How sincere are we in this effort. neither the man behind is aware how the concerned are risking his life nor the citizens relying upon the show of security aware of the void in the entire show. I wrote to the CM, Dy CM, DGP, CP as above and received absolutely similar response. Dead wall to bang your head on. For sake of security I do not propose to elaborate to hollowness in the matter. But i sincerely hope that these brothers standing behind be saved. If authorities contact me on my email I would be too glad to part with the information I have purely as a social cause without expecting any TRP, Publicity or consideration. But this I am sure will not happen as we are a democratic country. And in democracy all are equal and some are more equal.
Recently, i passed by a street near my house and I saw a platoon of constables headed by a 3 starer obstructing the traffic and standing there for what is normally termed as NAKABANDI. I stood there for a while and watched the howaldars getting hold of the bicycle riders without helmet and making recoveries from them. Embarrassed by my watching his skill, the howaldar turned to me and told me to get lost. I told him that I was standing on the foot path and there was no breach of law by my standing there. Watching my adamant approach he summoned his boss. The boss came to me and asked me as to what i wanted. I asked him that if all the exercise was presumably for identifying and nabbing terrorists, then why none of them was wearing bulletproof jackets and why they were not checking the cars as nothing is written on the faces of the terrorists. He asked my identification. I said he may presume that I am an ordinary citizen. Then he was too happy. He retorted, then mr citizen, this government has no money to buy us the bulletproof jackets. So collect a public charity and buy us the jackets. OK?? Don\'t preach us here. Then i told him that I was a free lance reporter and the pen on my pocket was a spy pen and all what he had said would be broadcast on all National channels with his nameplate intact.
I don\'t want to describe what happened next but it is illustrative of how neglectful we are towards issues like security and lives of our citizens.
