Wal-Mart And Degradation Of Women
To/Against/For: Equal Rights For Womento whom it may concern:
wal-mart corporation, at least the wal-mart in cranberry township, is guilty of DISCRIMINATING AGAINST WOMEN and belittling women. i was walking into the store on saturday, november 19, and just in front of the door was a negro woman who had the nerve to be collecting money for abused women. this slaps decades of feminism right in the face - hasn't wal-mart heard that femininity has recently undergone a complete metamorphosis? hasn't wal-mart heard that a woman can now do anything a man can do? what is the matter with wal-mart, suggesting that women are some kind of defenseless kittens that are apt to be abused?
at first, my reaction to the negro's plea for donations was to laugh in my "nanny fine" nasal laugh. i honestly thought it was some kind of negro joke, i couldn't believe that such insolence to the notion of Strongwoman would be anything but a farce, BUT THIS WAS NOT A JOKE. she was legitimately taking donations for abused women. how can anybody even suggest that women are not strong enough to defend themselves - it is utterly deranged, because besides the spokespeople for bally's strength-centers being female, the notion of "masculine supremacy" is now ridiculed enough that nobody dares to even think of it. wal-mart needs to STOP their degradation of women.
first, there were compromised strength-requirements for the military, as if if to suggest that women are lesser than men. then there were sports teams based on gender, as if to suggest that women are lesser than men. then there were the gender-based parking spaces, as if to suggest that women can't function while carrying an extra 7 pounds that is impossible to drop. then along comes the "coney island hot dog eating competition, womens' division," as if to suggest that women are lesser than man.
frankly, i am disheartened to see that wal-mart is joining the woman-bashers of society, though it's not completely wal-mart's fault. it's not society's fault for thinking that women need the aforementioned compensations in order to excel, it is biology's fault. it is god's fault. god is a male-chauvinist pig for designing a woman's vagina to bleed if a man has not impregnated it. god is a male-chauvinist pig for designing a woman's breasts to leak milk for feeding the fruit of a non-bloody vagina.
as one who stands for the reality of femininity and one who is against people who are trying to make femininity into something that it's not and never will be, i would not be writing a letter in complaint of a company giving femininity a helpless name. that said, i am certain that wal-mart knows the society in which we live. "Strongwoman" this and "anything a man can do" that. it's one or the other, and since it seems impossible to stop the misrepresentation of women, then wal-mart needs to stop slapping that misrepresentation in the face. wal-mart needs to stop allowing the "donations for abused women" negro in front of their store. wal-mart needs to jump on the bandwagon and start representing women as STRONG and CAPABLE.
