to whom it may concern;
i am starting a coalition against religious bigotry, and as a concerned united states citizen who is tolerant of everything under the sun, i am appalled at a bumper sticker i see on many cars. my coalition aims to have the police start arresting anyone driving a car possessing this sticker. it reads a simple "coexist," with different religious symbols making up the letters. this is offensive because the religion of islam is included in the "coexist' graphic, and any notion of tolerance just slaps islam in the face.
that is not to say that islamic intolerance is a bad thing, it cannot be a bad thing because islam is a TOTALLY LEGITIMATE RELIGION, but i am sure i don't have to quote the "islamic verses" of salman rushdie and other muslims to say that islamic verses are the antithesis of 'coexist". haven't we heard enough of islamic intolerance from the news and from repentant ex-muslims? islam is the kind of religion that will not coexist, and islam is the kind of religion that will not coexist. as an old disk jockey, similarly quite intolerant of anything but records, once said, "how do you negotiate with someone who wants to kill you". how do you tolerate a religion that wants to kill every non-believer?
islam is the kind of religion that will not coexist, and, for the sake of islam, i hereby call on police officers of the united states to start ticketing anyone who drives with one of these islam-offending "coexist" stickers on the backs of their cars. it is time to start embracing islam and the holy war known as jihad, the "islamic verses" of their holy book.
the "coexist" sticker is just as offensive to muslims as is a parody of talking heads' "burning down the house" that i read online. it's called "burning down the mosque". it is the duty of police officers to STOP the disrespect of islam.
